Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Advanced Development Engineer II to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. The Marine Advanced Development Engineer II will lead complex marine advanced concept projects, and support management per the concept plan of the Marine Advanced Development management team. This position will encompass ownership of projects including design, development, project management, and documentation tasks.

What you'll be doing:
- Design & development of Yamaha advanced development water-related mobility products and their components, leading to Proofs of Concept (PoC). This could include 3D & 2D CAD work, fluid dynamics analyses, BOMs, scheduling, proto building, working with outside vendors (and other Yamaha internal functions), bench & on-water testing evaluations, and associated reports.
- Work with other engineers & developers, research teams, internal product planning personnel (as well as other internal functions) to have clear scope understanding for proofs-of-concept (PoC).
- Provide design partners & outside vendors with necessary design information to develop components/systems as needed.
- Benchmark & data collection of existing water-related mobility products currently in market (both in lab and/or on-water).
- Lead and participate in the fabrication of prototypes and pre-production components for testing and evaluation. Test trip preparation and post testing teardown. Evaluation of tested components and test report composition.
- Coordinate & plan necessary laboratory and ride testing as applicable to the components being developed. Analyze, interpret, and summarize testing results to determine direction for development of project.
- Maintain continued learning through first-hand product exposure, structured learning, and continuous industry exposure. Mentor entry level engineers.
- Adhere to and support corporate policies and administration tasks required per company guidelines.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited school, or related engineering discipline.
- 5-7 years of related industry and relevant design experience and/or product development. Advanced degree could count towards this experience time.
- Naturally creative spirit with an optimistic, flexible, and adaptive attitude towards challenges.
- A strong business acumen and able to work cross-functionally within and outside of the organization.
- Exceptional skills in managing complex projects and keeping stakeholders aware of project status, including leading cadenced meetings.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers
- Able to participate on-water testing evaluations on local lakes or possibly the ocean.
- NX or Solidworks 3D modeling experience (FEA & Surfacing experience is a plus).
- Must possess experienced engineering judgment and analysis.
- Experience with shop skills/fabrication.
- Testing & data acquisition experience.
- Proficient in MS Office (i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
- Ability to remain flexible and manage multiple tasks and prioritizing changing workloads.
- Able to travel both domestically and internationally for business trips (between 10-30%).
