Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Mechatronics Engineer II to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. The position will be an essential part of our engineering team, giving thrust to the teamwork under the guidance of experienced professionals. In this role, you will assist in the design and development of new marine product components, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and break them down into technical specifications.

What you'll be doing
- Primary focus on the development of new marine products, content, and features within the Production Software & System team through design, development, systems integration, verification, and validation
- Take of role of leading the design and development of new marine product components, including mechanical and electrical, and electronic components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on global basis to define project requirements and break them down into technical specifications
- Write documentation to clarify and communicate system architecture, solutions, processes and requirements
- Participate in design reviews, project planning, and risk assessments
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve product or system issues by analyzing their root causes and assessing their impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality
- Conduct feasibility studies, develop prototypes and evaluate new technologies for hardware development
- Mentor junior engineers with the technology expertise and business acumen, emphasizing safety practices across the different levels of products in use
- Ensure the performance, reliability, and quality of our marine products through technical expertise and problem-solving.
- Stay updated with industry trends, standards, and best practices
- Ensure compliance with global operational rules and regulations
What you need to be successful:
- BS in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- 3-5+ years of experience in design and development of electrical/electronical components
- Passion for advancing the marine industry and willingness to advocate for the advancement of customer-experience
- Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS)
- Experience defining specifications for network communication, hardware, electrical, electronic and software integration
- Experience with selection of microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems
- Proficiency in network protocols, communication standards and respective analysis tools (e.g., CAN, Ethernet, USB, TCP/IP, UART, I2C, GPIO)
- Proficient in using electrical and mechanical design software to create and assess engineering drawings, with strong expertise in employing engineering tools to validate designs and resolve issues
- Strong business acumen and ability to formulate business cases.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree Engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge of programming languages such as C, C++, Python, MATLAB.
- Experience with project management and leadership, including effective communication, teamwork abilities and international collaboration with teams, including Japan
- Familiarity with functional safety or cybersecurity standards
- Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and safety compliance in marine industry
