Demand Planner

Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Demand Planner to join our Motorsports team in Marietta, GA. The Demand Planner will lead the process of forecasting production, wholesale, retail sales, and inventory, as well as maintaining pricing and costs for Recreation Off Road Vehicles (ROV) on a monthly, annual and mid-term plan (MTP) basis.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the process of updating the forecast, using IBP and intermediate level excel planning skills. Interpret sales results, industry trends, and incentive activity, and effectively communicate retail/wholesale progress versus company targets.
  • Serve as the primary contact for ROV production-related communications with factories, working closely with Yamaha US-based Japanese staff.
  • Collaborate with the Demand Planning Manager, ROV Product Line Manager, ROV Product Planning team, and Sales Planning Manager to gather input for updating mid-to-long term forecasting models. These models are integral to strategic planning and decision-making for ROV (and, to a lesser extent, ROV parts and accessories).
  • Continuously update the forecasting model during the budget/Mid-Term Planning (MTP) process and when necessary for new ROV models.
  • Develop and maintain Industry Forecast models, as well as create and manage databases for Ad Hoc analyses of industry trends and market share. Ensure monthly updates of ROV databases to support these activities.
  • Lead the production submission process, maintaining optimal inventory levels and conducting necessary analysis to set these levels. Collaborate closely with the Sales Operations team to update the production mix. Gather input and determine corrective action with ROV sales planners when sales/inventory amounts deviate from expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Demand Planning Manager, ROV Product Line Manager, Sales Planning Manager, and ROV Sales Planner to update ROV model pricing information, including competitive comparisons.
  • Develop pricing analysis for all ROV models, updating databases as needed. This may involve calculating numerous pricing and gross profit simulations during budget and Mid-Term Planning (MTP) periods.
  • Ability to explain complex topics and communicate to management as needed (ppt. presentations, excel reports, etc.).

Decision Making Responsibility:

  • Although this role will be working closely with the Demand Planning Manager, Sales Planning Manager, ROV Product Line Manager and ROV Sales Planner to gather input, a degree of autonomy is expected in all aspects of updating and developing materials.
  • Must have knowledge and experience base to create and implement reporting with very little supervisory input/oversite at times.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a forecasting, planning, or analytical role
  • Motorsports industry experience preferred
  • Database, forecasting, production management and reporting experience
  • IBP Experience preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple, strategic tasks simultaneously
  • Strong excel skills (Intermediate to Advanced Level)
